All people have strengths and weaknesses; the key to my life was recognizing them. In my personal life, I was not always so good at this, but in business I believe very few do it better.
People have always asked me, ‘Why are your locations so much fun and how have they all been super successful?” My answer has remained the same through the years. I know my positives and I do them well, but even more so, I know my negatives and I understand them clearly. I’ve always had a strong belief that the man or woman that thinks he can do it all is foolish and will inevitably fail. This is another philosophy I’ve always lived by. You want proof? I took 3 underachieving locations and made them the ‘talk of their town.’ Need more proof? Just take a look at the incredible staff I’ve hired through the years and check out the names they have gone out and made for themselves.

To be a great establishment, you must surround yourself with great people. I’d love to take all the credit, but only an egotistical ass would do such a thing. Now, I won’t belittle myself; I’ve spent 18 years working my tail off finding the perfect locations, designing, promoting and, most of all, shaking hands and kissing babies when the spot light was at its highest. Plus, I made all the behind-the-scene decisions on the fly to keep the engines going, but throughout the years, and all the businesses, I have been the one constant every time. As years past, my great employees left to grab their own brass ring. And let me say, I feel so much pride (like the proudest papa) watching all my boys kill it over and over. It’s left me speechless at times and anyone that knows Matt Prince, knows that myself and speechless don’t belong in the same sentence!
No matter the space or situation, I’ve always remained the same guy. From THE ORIGINAL BOGART’S, (my college bar across from Hofstra) to my town bar on the East End of Long Beach, to 39th & Park in New York City and then finally building CHREBETS with #80 NY JET Wayne Chrebet, my suite mate at Hofstra. I’ve always been the type of owner that looks and acts like the average Joe with a baseball hat, ripped jeans and a pair of K-Swiss. Style points were never my thing neither was receiving compliments. When looking for fashion and swag; I’d look to Eugene and DV for that!
Anyway, the point of this bio is for me to describe myself, in my own words, and give a little insight about Vienna. Now that the ‘me’ part is over; we can focus on what’s truly important. VIENNA.
So, I see a goldmine that needs a little TLC. I’ve watched this location since the early 2000’s. I’ve been a patron and I understood the good and the bad of the Chalet. I’ve spent the last 4 months taking a step back, building a sophisticated, sexy lounge that doubles as a boutique Event Space. I’ve tried to compliment this area and add what I believe is missing, but only YOU as my amazing guests will be able to tell me how I did. My goal was to build a special atmosphere on the North Shore. I hope that every customer can feel my passion for detail and all the love I have for this space and for YOU in my heart when you’re here at VIENNA. I make it a point to let my guests know they matter and that, most importantly, I’ve been listening to the buzz on the street for past few years and now I’m here ready to deliver!
So don’t be surprised if you’re here at VIENNA on a date with your significant other or just a bunch of friends and some dude who is about 5’10″ with a hat sends over some shots of Patron or a Chocolate Fondue platter. That’s just me being me… and as we all know people don’t change!
I’ve been a Roslyn/Woodbury guy for the past 14 years and the Chalet is home to many loving memories, occasions, dates and parties over the years, but now that Kevin has passed me the baton it’s finally my time to make you all smile. I’ve done it before and I can’t wait to do it again in my kids hometown!!
Thank you for reading my spiel, now I better get back to what I’m best at – creating a place for all to enjoy!
